Download and Installation Page

For Windows XP, Windows Server 2003 and Vista Users

For information on the new WITS you can visit WITS online discussion forum.

1. Uninstalling existing version of WITS

Please note that the new WITS (version 6.0 and above) can operate while keeping an older version of WITS. However, in order to avoid confusion among several versions of WITS, it is recommended to uninstall any existing versions.

To uninstall the existing WITS, simply delete the WITS folder and the corresponding shortcut from Windows Start menu.

Warning:

Before deleting your existing WITS, make sure that you have submitted queries containing all of your product/country group definitions. By doing so, your custom aggregates can be restored using Restore Query From Server function within Utilities menu option.

2. Downloading the latest version of WITS

Dowload WITS package from one of the links below and save it on your hard drive. Users who encounter problems in accessing FTP sites can download from the World Bank Web site (third link).

This will unzip all WITS components to the selected path under a folder named WITSVer6.0.227 ().
  4. Once installation is completed, WITSPostInstaller.bat is launched automatically unless your computer security setting prevents the launch. If that is the case, users are advised to double click on WITSPostInstaller.bat from their installation folder. ().

While executing, you would be prompted "Are you sure you want to add information in <selected installation folder>\To_Make_WITS_As_TrustedSite_Pl_Accept.REG to Registry" (). Select "Yes".
  6. Next, WITS Checker (WITSCheckSystem.exe) is launched. This utility analyses your computer for required components. If any incompatibility is found, you would be prompted with an URL to get more information on how to fix it (). Press Exit button to close the window.
